For our production of Much Ado About Nothing, we are set in the early 20th Century/Post World War One Era. On this page you will find helpful information regarding the world in which our play takes place.

Interim: The Calm Before (and After) the Storm

"Interim" is the phrase used to explain the time period in between World War One and World War Two (1918-1939). It was seen as a time of economic change with multiple economic crises, a time of social change with the increase of women's rights and suffrage as well as the popularization of the radio, and a time of political change.

Our show specifically takes place somewhere between the years 1918 and 1919, which is the very beginning of this period. This is because Italy would see the rise of Mussolini in 1920, causing drastic change to Italy's political landscape that would make it very awkward for our British characters to be hanging around.
