Strike Up, Pipers!
In our production of Much Ado About Nothing, we have some modern music incorporated into our story in place of some of the original text. Here you can find some basic information on the songs chosen as well as some background on music and Shakespeare.
"Dog Days Are Over"
For our production of Much Ado About Nothing, we've added the song "Dog Days Are Over" into the first party sequence at the beginning of the play. While the song for this part is never specified in the original text, most adaptations put some sort of song into this part to add to the party atmosphere. Since Florence and the Machine is similar enough to Mumford and Sons, it's a nice fit.
"Shut Up And Dance"
For the final dance, UWL's production is using "Shut Up and Dance With Me" by the band Walk the Moon. While from the same time period as the other songs, it has a more pop sound rather than the folk from earlier. This helps to emphasize the high emotions and happy ending of the show.
