Women and the War: Nurses and Espionage

While women in combat was still not really something that was seen during World War One, many women were still involved actively with the war cause on the frontlines. This usually took the form of nursing or espionage (spying). Women would often disguise themselves as entertainers or waitstaff in order to not raise suspicion and would be able to send important information back to their higher ups.

Since Conrade is genderbent in UWL's version of Much Ado About Nothing, it's plausible that she would be involved in espionage, given her cunning demeanor and the spying she does already in the show. Her proximity to Don John also supports this idea.
