Jane Austen's World
Here you can find all of the information that you could want on Jane Austen, her work, and how it affected the world of literature for generations to come.
Who Was Jane Austen?
Jane Austen is often referred to as the "mother of the novel" and has kept her notoriety in literature circles due to her critiques of Regency culture in every aspect from gender roles to class roles, and set the standard for what novels looked like. She also set the standard for romance novels for generations to come thereafter. (Even though she notably never married.)
Pride and Prejudice is Jane's most popular novel by far, warranting 17 different movie adaptations (not including sequels or spinoffs), several play adaptations, and helped to establish a lot of the tropes that we see in media even today.
